Millie
Millie

“Millie” was awarded a Blue Ribbon in the Adult Fine Arts Exhibition at the 2006 Brazoria County Fair. My inspiration for this doll was Mildred Douglas Chrisman who, in the early 20th century, won the World Champion Girl Bronc Rider title twice and also acted in silent movies with Tom Mix. The 17” one-of-a-kind doll wears fringed suede leather culottes and vest, blue cotton shirt and leather boots with spurs. Her hair is mohair and she carries a white hat in her hand as she waves to the admiring crowd. Mildred was inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1988.
